3.What is a Virtual Server?
Netsouth supports virtual server setup which means that
we can establish a home for your web site on our server
system and establish a presence on the internet regardless
of your needs. The Netsouth Virtual Server Solution allows
you to start small and scale upward to whatever server and
bandwidth combination fits your needs. Netsouth server
architecture is robust and extremely flexible. Customers
can use their Netsouth server solutions for ecommerce,

Yes, you will be able to access the domain name with or
without the WWW in front. Many web hosting providers do
now provide this capability. For example, you can access
the domain name "mydomain.com" by going to "www.mydomain.com"
as well as "mydomain.com".

7. Could you tell me more about the
MS Front Page Extensions?
FrontPage extensions are CGI programs that provide the server
side implementation of FrontPage. FrontPage communicates
with the extensions via HTTP using a Remote Procedure Call
(RPC). When the server sees the "POST" request
addressed to the FrontPage server extensions it simply directs
the request to the appropriate CGI program. The extensions
implement authoring (uploading/downloading documents, ToDo
lists), administration (setting end-user, author, and administrator
privileges), and dynamic content (browse-time WebBot components).
Without the FrontPage server extensions you will not be
able to take advantage of the WebBots that are available
through FrontPage. Also, without the extensions you cannot
author and administer your web using the tools provided
as part of the FrontPage Editor/Explorer package.

8.What are some of the limitations
of the MS Front Page Extensions?
There are several limitations that you should be aware of
if you intend to use FrontPage extensions.
Web size -- This seems to be most critical when a "searchable
event" is present in the web (Search, Discussion Forum
and Table of Contents). The lengthy process of updating
the indices for these functions can lead to the connection
timing-out (HTTP 500 Error or 'Server has timed-out').
Disk Usage -- You may create and publish as many child webs
as your disk storage space allows. However, for each child
web you publish, FrontPage duplicates certain information
into indices and hidden files. This adds 'overhead,' increasing
the storage space required for your files. Microsoft's documentation
notes, "FrontPage's optional full-text search indexes
can take up to the same amount of disk space as your textual
content."
You might also note the following precautions to take to
protect the FrontPage extensions on your site:
a) Do NOT use the Edit Access or File Manager features found
in your Control Panel to set passwords, limit access, set
file permissions or delete directories or files in a FrontPage
web. This should only be done through the options in FrontPage
Explorer.
b) Do NOT use regular FTP (such as WS_FTP) to upload files
to the server when FrontPage extensions are installed. This
may corrupt the extensions, disabling the interactive features
available with FrontPage.
NOTE:The exception to this is when loading custom scripts
to the cgi-bin directory on your site. You need to read
closely the instructions relative to uploading custom CGI
scripts.

9. Does Netsouth handle domain registration?
Netsouth will register new domain names with InterNIC for
you. InterNIC will bill you directly for this service. We
charge a registration fee for this and we register it in
YOUR name. If you have an existing domain we will fill out
and send you a modify domain name template to forward to
hostmaster@internic.net. When Internic announces the completion
of the transfer, there is a 72 hour propagation period where
visitors could go to either site. At the end of the 72 hours
you should contact the previous host to have them delete
the old domain from their records and update their DNS record.
If you use this same provider for your Internet access you
will not be able to access your domain site at ncsnet.com
until they update their DNS. During the propagation period
persons accessing your site will be going to both sites
until all are eventually accessing the new site hosted by
Netsouth. The process should be seamless.

10.How long does it take before
my domain name is active?
Once the InterNIC announces that your domain name has been
registered (or transferred, if applicable), it usually takes
about 72-hours before it is active. All internet providers
must update their records (DNS tables) to reflect new site
locations. This is called propagation.

11. What is the InterNIC fee for
domain registration ?
The InterNIC charges $70.00 to register a new domain name.
This fee covers two years. Annual renewal after the two
years is $35. The InterNIC has set up an automated on-line
process for credit card payment at the time of domain name
registration. Recent experience has shown that this process
results in a 24-hour turn around time for completion of
the registration process. Once this is completed Netsouth
will then configure and setup your domain for immediate
use. We then invoice you $70 for the registration of your
domain PLUS a registration fee based on our cost schedule
for this service.

12. Does Netsouth limit the number
of hits I can receive each month?
No. Our experience has shown that 300 to 500 MB/month is
more than enough data transfer for 90 (+)% of all websites
and we use it as a bench mark. Depending on the quantity
and size of your files, 1000MB could support many thousands
of hits per week.

13. How do I transfer files to my
web site hosting account?
Files must be transferred to your web server hosting account
via File Transport Protocol (FTP). If you have a PPP internet
account and need FTP software, you can download a program
for either the PC or Mac from the IPSwitch site. Internet
providers such as AOL, CompuServe and Prodigy may have
a built-in FTP interface.

to update my pages?
You have unlimited access via FTP 24-hours a day. As such,
you can create and maintain your web pages on your own computer
and upload files to your web site at your convenience or
have Netsouth do it for you on a monthly basis. However,
our Content Management Solution will provide a more efficient
means for keeping your site content up to date.

In general, if you have more than one domain account at
Netsouth we can point each domain address to the same HTML

16. Can I use my account for commercial
purposes?
Yes, you can use your account for commercial purposes. The
World Wide Web has become a most efficient and cost-effective
means of making information, products and services available
to the users of the internet community. Netsouth Virtual
Server secure processing is available FREE using SSL and
PGP to provide an environment whereby payment information
(such as a credit card number) or confidential information
(such as a custom form) can be transmitted from web browser
to web server in an encrypted mode. Look for the solid key
for secure transaction licensing.

19. How long does it take to set
up a new account?
Orders for account setup take between 1-2 working days,
and most times will be done the same day. Once an account
is set up, an activation notice will be sent to you via
email including a userid, password, and FTP hostname. You
can begin managing your new web site immediately. Domain
account users will be given a temporary directory to access
their site via the web prior to the completion of either
domain registration or transfer.
